On January 15, the 27th Warsaw Film Festival, which will take place October 7-16, 2011, starts accepting submissions for this year's edition.
The festival operates since 1985 and belongs to the elite group of 13 most important competitive international film festivals in the world. Cash awards amount to over 40,000 Euro. In the International Competition, the priority is given to world, international and European premieres.
The films in the WFF's program must be absolute Polish premieres. The organizers make two exceptions:
a/ for Polish films presented earlier at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia,
b/ for Polish debuts presented earlier at the "Young and Cinema" Debut Films Festival in Koszalin.
Competitive sections:
1. International Competition - for feature films from all over the world,
2. Competition 1-2 - for directors&#
039 first and second feature films,
3. Free Spirit Competition - for independent, innovative, rebellious films,
4. Documentary Competition - for feature-length documentaries from all over the world (over 60 min),
5. Short Films Competition - for narrative and documentary short films from all over the world (under 30 min).
Non-competitive sections:
6. Gala Screenings,
7. Discoveries - visions of contemporary world,
8. Family Cinema Weekend - films for children and their parents.

CentEast Market Warsaw is an industry event which
accompanies the Warsaw Film Festival. The aim of the project is to promote Eastern European cinema. Previous editions brought together sales agents, distributors, festival programmers and producers from Poland, Europe, and all over the world.
