Jan Komasa’s “Anniversary” to open the 41st Warsaw Film Festival!

We are delighted to announce that the 41st Warsaw International Film Festival (WFF) will open with the world premiere of "Anniversary", directed by Jan Komasa. The filmmaker, known for such acclaimed works as "Suicide Room", "Warsaw 44" and the Academy Award–nominated "Corpus Christi", returns with a bold new story about memory, identity, and the hidden forces that shape our lives. The Opening Gala of WFF will take place on 10 October 2025 at Warsaw’s Kinoteka Cinema, inaugurating ten days of screenings, meetings, and events that will once again make Warsaw the capital of world cinema.

I couldn’t imagine a better film to open WFF in its new chapter. Jan Komasa is an outstanding filmmaker, and at the same time a Varsovian and a faithful festivalgoer of WFF since his youth. Today he is beginning his international career, and I am glad that we can start this new era in the history of WFF together, says Bartek Pulcyn, Programming Director of WFF.

ENCOUNTERS – a new competition section at the Warsaw Film Festival

The Warsaw Film Festival is expanding with a new competition section – Encounters, which will debut during the 41st edition of the event. Returning to the roots of the legendary film showcase from the communist era, out of which the Warsaw Film Week and later the Warsaw Film Festival were born, this new edition of Confrontations will once again invite audiences to discover the most important and talked-about films of world cinema.
