Faithless Games
Nevěrné hry
dir. Michaela Pavlátová
Czechia, 2003 - 95
"Faithless Games" is the feature debut of director Michaela Pavlátová, who has won numerous awards for her work as an animator. The story, about the seeking of harmony in partnerships, is based upon a screenplay by Slovak author Tina Diosi. The story revolves around a pianist Eva, who has followed her husband, Peter, a musician as well as composer, to a small village near the Slovak-Hungarian border. As much as Peter finds this new environment peaceful for his composing, Eva, a musical performer, finds it difficult to expand her horizons. She feels rootless. Not only is she distanced from her family but also from Prague, the city she knows so well, and her friends who live there. "Faithless Games" is a chamber piece about love, faithlessness, human failings and finding one's self.
